Gujarat Board 2027: Both Classes, One Window — What the 2026 Cycle Tells You

Gujarat runs its two board examinations differently from most states, and understanding that difference is worth more than any rumoured date sheet. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) conducts the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) examinations in one shared window: in 2026, both ran from 26 February to 18 March. There is no separate "Class 10 season" and "Class 12 season" — the same three weeks hold both, in different sessions of the day.

The honest status for 2027: GSEB has not published the 2027 timetable as of 20 October 2026. In the 2026 cycle the timetable appeared in November 2025, so a November 2026 release is the reasonable expectation — and, importantly, the 2026 sheet then had to be revised in December because a scheduled paper clashed with the Dhuleti holiday on 4 March. The lesson is built into this page: wait for the board's PDF on gseb.org, and check again for a revised version even after you have downloaded the first one.

The 2026 cycle, in full — the template for 2027

Forms and preparation. Exam forms move through schools well before the timetable; the timetable itself was released in November 2025, with HSC Science practicals following from 5 to 13 February 2026 and SSC practical/internal work in February 2026.

Theory examinations. Both classes wrote from 26 February to 18 March 2026, in pen-and-paper mode. SSC papers sat in the morning session, 10:00 AM–1:15 PM. HSC used two sessions — morning (10:30 AM–1:45 PM) and afternoon (3:00–6:15 PM) — because HSC is not one examination but three: Science, General (Arts/Commerce) and Vocational streams, each with its own subject grid inside the same window. Over 15.28 lakh students registered across SSC and HSC in the 2026 cycle, with more than 75,000 teachers deployed across 454 evaluation centres.

Results. GSEB declared the HSC result — Science and General streams together — on 4 May 2026, and the SSC result on 6 May 2026, both checked online with the student's seat number. The passing standard is 33% in each subject and 33% in aggregate. Supplementary (Purak) examinations followed in June–July 2026, with the SSC supplementary result on 3 July 2026.

Read across to 2027 as expectation, not announcement: timetable around November 2026; HSC practicals in early February 2027; SSC and HSC theory together from late February to mid-March 2027; results in the first week of May 2027, HSC a day or two before SSC.

The seat number is your identity — treat it that way

Gujarat's result system runs on the seat number, not the roll-number-plus-date-of-birth combination most boards use. Your seat number is printed on your hall ticket, and it is the single credential the result portal at gseb.org / gsebeservice.com asks for; results are also pushed through SMS and WhatsApp routes the board announces at declaration time. Students who lose the hall ticket spend result morning at their school office instead of at the result portal. Photograph the hall ticket the day you receive it, and keep a written copy of the seat number with a family member.

Three Gujarat-specific traps

First, the stream trap. An HSC Science student and an HSC General student do not share a timetable beyond the window itself. Coaching-class and social-media "GSEB 2027 date sheets" routinely merge the streams into one list; dates from the wrong stream are worse than no dates, because they feel precise. When the official PDF arrives, find your stream's section and ignore the rest.

Second, the revision trap. The 2026 cycle proves GSEB will move papers when a state holiday collides — the December 2025 revision shifted the March schedule around Dhuleti. Holi/Dhuleti falls inside the expected 2027 window as well. If you download the first PDF in November, set a reminder to check gseb.org again in January for a revised sheet.

Third, the form trap. Because both classes examine together, GSEB's school-side form and enrolment deadlines land early and together. A wrong subject or stream entry on your school record is not a small error in Gujarat — it determines which papers are printed for your seat. Verify your name, subjects and stream with your school when the enrolment list is displayed, not after the hall ticket arrives.

What to do now

While the timetable is awaited, the useful work is unglamorous: confirm your school enrolment details, finish the syllabus by late January so the February practical season does not collide with first revision, and plan mock tests in your actual session timing — mornings for SSC, your stream's session for HSC. When GSEB publishes the 2027 PDF, this page will carry the confirmed subject-wise dates for SSC and for each HSC stream separately. Until the PDF exists on gseb.org, the truthful summary is: no 2027 dates yet, announcement expected in November, examinations expected in the same shared late-February-to-mid-March window that held more than fifteen lakh Gujarat students in 2026.
