Tamil Nadu Board Exam 2027: Time Table Out — Plus Two from 3 March, SSLC from 17 March

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, released the full 2026–27 public examination timetable on 14 October 2026, announced by School Education Minister A Rajmohan at a press conference in Chennai — roughly five months before the first paper, and months earlier than students usually get certainty. This page carries the confirmed subject-wise schedules for Plus Two (Class 12), SSLC (Class 10) and the Class 11 arrear examinations, the practical windows, the tentative result dates, and — because two different Plus Two tables are already circulating online — a clear note on which one the evidence supports and what you must verify in the official PDF.

Plus Two (HSE Second Year)3 – 29 March8 – 18 February7 May 2027
SSLC (Class 10)17 March – 12 April19 – 26 February (see Flags)20 May 2027
Class 11 (HSE First Year, arrear only)5 March – 1 AprilNot specified7 May 2027

All examinations are held in a single morning session, 10:00 AM to 1:15 PM, split as: reading the question paper 10:00–10:10 AM, verification of your particulars 10:10–10:15 AM, writing 10:15 AM–1:15 PM. Arrive well before 10:00 AM — the reading time is part of the session, not a grace period. Over 15 lakh students are expected across SSLC and Plus Two (see Flags on the exact count).

SSLC (Class 10) time table 2027

Six papers, spread across nearly four weeks — the most forgiving board calendar in the country this year. Every source opened agrees on this table.

SSLC (Class 10) time table 2027
Date (2027)DaySubject
17 MarchWednesdayTamil and other language papers
25 MarchThursdayEnglish
31 MarchWednesdayMathematics
5 AprilMondayScience
9 AprilFridaySocial Science
12 AprilMondayOptional Language

How to use the gaps: you get eight days between Tamil and English, six before Mathematics, and five before Science. That spacing is a revision asset no other major board gives its Class 10 students this year — students in Uttar Pradesh, for comparison, finish their entire Class 10 season in the time Tamil Nadu spends on its first three papers. The trap is the opposite one: with a paper roughly once a week, it is easy to study only for the next paper and let Mathematics quietly rot until 25 March. Build the plan backwards from 31 March, not forwards from 17 March.

Plus Two (Class 12) time table 2027

Plus Two (Class 12) time table 2027
Date (2027)DaySubjects
3 MarchWednesdayTamil and other languages
8 MarchMondayEnglish
12 MarchFridayChemistry, Accountancy, Geography
15 MarchMondayCommunicative English, Ethics and Indian Culture, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Biochemistry, Advanced Language (Tamil), Home Science, Political Science, Statistics, Nursing (Vocational), Basic Electrical Engineering
19 MarchFridayBiology, Botany, History, Business Mathematics and Statistics, Basic Electronics / Civil / Automobile / Mechanical Engineering, Textile Technology, Office Management and Secretaryship
23 MarchTuesdayPhysics, Economics, Employability Skills
29 MarchMondayMathematics, Zoology, Commerce, Microbiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Textile and Dress Designing, Food Service Management, Agricultural Science, Nursing (General)

Stream view — Science: Chemistry 12 March → Biology 19 March → Physics 23 March → Mathematics 29 March. Note the order: Physics comes after Biology, and Mathematics is the last paper of the entire Plus Two season, with a six-day runway after Physics. Commerce: Accountancy 12 March → Economics 23 March → Commerce 29 March — a gentle calendar with one long gap (12–23 March) that belongs to Economics numericals and Commerce theory in equal measure. Arts/Humanities: Geography 12 March → History 19 March → Economics 23 March, all in the second half — your first ten days are only languages, so use them for History, not for rest.

A necessary warning: a second, different Plus Two table is circulating on several news sites (it moves English to 5 March and compresses the whole schedule — see Flags for the full comparison). The table above is the one supported by three independent renderings of the DGE schedule and by its own internal weekday consistency. Whichever table you plan from, confirm your subject dates and subject codes against the official PDF before you build travel or coaching plans around a single paper.

Class 11 arrear examinations

The Class 11 (HSE First Year) public examination in 2027 is for arrear candidates only — students with papers still to clear under the old syllabus; it is not a fresh Class 11 board season. Theory runs 5 March to 1 April 2027, with a tentative result date of 7 May 2027; practical dates were not specified in the released schedule. The subject order reported for the arrear series runs: languages 5 March, English 16 March, Chemistry/Accountancy/Geography group 18 March, Mathematics/Zoology/Commerce group 22 March, Physics/Economics group 24 March, Computer Science group 30 March, Biology/History group 1 April (single source — see Flags; verify in the official PDF).

Practicals and hall tickets

Plus Two practicals run 8–18 February 2027, before the theory season opens. The SSLC window of 19–26 February 2027 is reported by most sources as the practical window (one syndicated report calls the same dates model examinations — see Flags); your school confirms which applies to you. Hall tickets are not downloaded by students directly: schools download them from the DGE system and distribute them after the school seal and the principal's signature. If your name, date of birth or subject combination is wrong on the school list, fix it with your school before the hall ticket is generated — corrections after printing are a district-office errand, not a school-desk one.

How to download the official time table PDF

  • Go to dge.tn.gov.in (or its timetable page, dge.tn.gov.in/timetable.html).
  • Open the SSLC Examination section for Class 10, or the Higher Secondary Examination section for Plus Two / Class 11 arrear.
  • Select the 2027 public examination time table notification (the notification pages are also mirrored at apply1.tndge.org — HRSEC for Plus Two, SSLC for Class 10).
  • Open the PDF, confirm your subjects and subject codes against it, and save or print it.

Compared with 2026

The 2027 season starts a little later and breathes a little more. In 2026, Plus Two ran 2–26 March and SSLC ran 11 March–6 April; in 2027, Plus Two runs 3–29 March and SSLC starts a week later, on 17 March, ending 12 April. The other change is the announcement itself: a full subject-wise calendar in mid-October gives schools and students almost five months of certain dates — there is no "expected timetable" excuse left for a disorganised revision plan.

Common mistakes

  • Planning from the wrong Plus Two table. Two versions are online (see Flags). Check the official PDF once, today, and delete the other screenshot from your phone.
  • Confusing the arrear series with a regular Class 11 exam. The 5 March–1 April series is only for candidates clearing pending Class 11 papers.
  • Treating 7 May / 20 May as promised result dates. Both were announced as tentative. Plan college-application paperwork around them, but do not book anything irreversible against them.
  • Waiting to collect the hall ticket. It comes through your school with seal and signature; a missing or wrong hall ticket discovered in exam week is the most avoidable crisis in this calendar.
  • Ignoring the practical windows. February practicals finish barely a week before Plus Two theory begins on 3 March; practical preparation and theory revision overlap whether you plan for it or not.
