Who can actually apply
Every scheme on the portal starts from the same base conditions. You must be a domicile of Gujarat, studying in a recognised school, college or university, and you must have your own Aadhaar and a bank account in your name. After that, each scheme narrows the field:
- Post-Matric Scholarship for SC students covers students from Class 11 up to postgraduate level whose annual family income from all sources is ₹2,50,000 or less. You must have passed Class 10 or 12, and you cannot be a repeater in the same class more than once. Students studying through correspondence or distance education are also covered. A parallel state-funded window has covered SC girl students in the ₹2.5–6 lakh income band, and in May 2026 the state announced it was extending the same band to SC male students with state money — worth checking inside the portal if your family income sits in that range.
- Post-Matric Scholarship for ST students follows the same shape: Class 11 to postgraduate study, family income up to ₹2,50,000, with the umbrella schemes administered through the Tribal Development Department.
- Post-Matric and Post-SSC schemes for SEBC (OBC) and NTDNT students cover Class 11 to Ph.D level study for Gujarat-domicile students of those categories, with a lower income ceiling than the SC/ST schemes.
- Pre-Matric scholarships support SC, ST and OBC children in Classes 1 to 10, again income-tested, and are normally routed with the school's help.
- Fellowship schemes for M.Phil and Ph.D students, private-coaching assistance for Class 10–12 students with strong marks (70% for the science stream, 75% for the general stream in the published scheme text), food-bill assistance for hostel students, and stipends for ITI trainees sit alongside the big post-matric schemes.
One important exception: the state's flagship merit scheme, Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY), is not applied for inside Digital Gujarat. It has its own portal, mysy.gujarat.gov.in, run by the Education Department. MYSY is open to students of all categories who scored 80 percentile or more in Class 10 (for diploma admission) or Class 12 (for degree admission) from a Gujarat board — 65% at diploma level for diploma-to-degree students — with family income up to ₹6,00,000. It pays 50% of the approved tuition fee up to ₹2,00,000 a year for medical and dental programmes, with lower caps for engineering, diploma and other degree courses, plus hostel and books/instruments assistance.
What the money looks like
Post-matric scholarships are not a single flat amount. The award combines a maintenance allowance, paid monthly at rates that depend on your course group and on whether you are a hosteller or a day scholar, with reimbursement of tuition and examination fees at the rates approved for your course. That is why two students in the same scheme receive different amounts: a hosteller in a professional course draws more than a day scholar in a general degree. Food-bill assistance for eligible hostel students has been paid at ₹1,200 a month for ten months in the published scheme text. Because rates are revised by government resolution, treat any exact rupee figure you see on a coaching blog with suspicion — the amount sanctioned in your own application is the figure that matters, and it is shown in your portal account.
Dates for 2026-27
Digital Gujarat does not run one common deadline. Each department opens and closes its own schemes, and closing dates are routinely extended. The application season generally opens around June–July, once admissions settle. For 2026-27, no single official notice publishing every scheme's last date could be confirmed when this guide was prepared, so the honest position is: log in, open your scheme, and read the last date displayed against it — that date, not a shared screenshot or a WhatsApp forward, is the one your institute will verify against. Apply at least two weeks before it; institute and district verification continue after the student deadline, and an application your college has not forwarded is an application that does not get paid.
How to apply, step by step
- Go to digitalgujarat.gov.in and choose New Registration (Citizen). Register with your own mobile number and email, and complete the Aadhaar-based e-KYC the portal asks for.
- Log in and open Services → Scholarship Services. Pick the department and the exact scheme whose conditions you meet — SC, ST and SEBC schemes look similar but are verified by different offices.
- Fill the application: personal details exactly as they appear on your Aadhaar and marksheet, course and institute details, and your bank account (it must be Aadhaar-seeded for DBT).
- Upload clear scans of the documents listed below. Where the scheme asks for digitally issued caste and income certificates, get them issued through Digital Gujarat itself rather than uploading an old paper certificate.
- Submit and note the application number. Then print the application and submit the hard copy, with copies of your documents, to your school or college scholarship section. This step is not optional for most schemes — your institute verifies and forwards the application online, and applications that are never forwarded lapse.
- Track the status in your account. If it shows a query from the verifying authority, correct the flagged item and resubmit through your institute immediately; queries left unanswered are a common reason applications die quietly.
Documents you will need
Keep these ready before you start: a passport-size photograph; caste certificate issued by the competent authority; income certificate (Form 16 is additionally required where a parent is a government employee); Aadhaar card; the first page of your bank passbook or a cancelled cheque; the previous examination marksheet; the current year's fee receipt; school leaving certificate; hostel certificate if you are a hosteller; a domicile certificate if you are a Gujarat-origin student studying outside the state; disability certificate where applicable; and a break affidavit if you have a study gap of more than a year.
Renewal
Scholarships on Digital Gujarat are not auto-renewed. Continuing students file a renewal application each year from the same account, with the previous year's marksheet and the new fee receipt. You must have been promoted to the next class; repeating a year generally ends eligibility under the post-matric rules. MYSY renewals, on the separate portal, require at least 50% marks in the previous year and satisfactory attendance.
Mistakes that get applications rejected
The same handful of errors cause most rejections. A name or date of birth that differs between Aadhaar, marksheet and bank account stops DBT. An expired income certificate — or one in a parent's name where the scheme wants the family's certificate for the current financial year — fails verification. Choosing the wrong scheme or department means the wrong office verifies you. Skipping the hard-copy submission to your institute leaves the application unverified no matter how complete the online form looks. And uploading blurred or cropped document scans invites a query you may not see until the correction window has closed. Check your portal account weekly during the season; that is where queries, verification stages and payment status actually appear.
Sources & verification
Checked against Government of Gujarat's official source on 6 September 2026. Closed, renewal-only, expected and open statuses are kept separate.
Frequently asked questions
Who can apply for a Digital Gujarat scholarship?
You must be a domicile of Gujarat, studying in a recognised school, college or university, with your own Aadhaar and a bank account in your name. Each scheme then narrows eligibility further by category, course level and family income.
What is the income limit for the post-matric scholarship for SC students?
The Post-Matric Scholarship for SC students covers Class 11 to postgraduate study where annual family income from all sources is ₹2,50,000 or less. The ST post-matric scheme follows the same ₹2,50,000 ceiling.
Is MYSY applied for on Digital Gujarat?
No. The Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY) has its own portal, mysy.gujarat.gov.in, run by the Education Department. It is open to students of all categories who scored 80 percentile or more in Class 10 or Class 12 from a Gujarat board, with family income up to ₹6,00,000.
What is the last date to apply on Digital Gujarat for 2026-27?
There is no single common deadline — each department opens and closes its own schemes, and closing dates are routinely extended. Log in, open your scheme, and read the last date displayed against it inside the portal.
Do I need to submit a hard copy after applying online?
Yes, for most schemes. After submitting online you must print the application and submit the hard copy, with copies of your documents, to your school or college scholarship section, because your institute verifies and forwards the application — applications that are never forwarded lapse.
Are Digital Gujarat scholarships renewed automatically?
No. Continuing students file a renewal application each year from the same account, with the previous year's marksheet and the new fee receipt, and must have been promoted to the next class.
