What this notice was

On 17 September 2026, the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) issued Advertisement No. BCECEB(ITICAT)-2026/13, announcing an offline Spot Round-2 for ITICAT 2026 admissions. The spot admission was held at ITIs on 21 September 2026. That date has now passed, so this page's job is to explain what the round was, who it served, and what your options are if you still do not have an ITI seat in Bihar.

A quick refresher: what ITICAT is

ITICAT — the Industrial Training Institute Competitive Admission Test — is Bihar's state-level entrance examination for admission to engineering and non-engineering trades (such as Electrician, Fitter, Welder, COPA and Mechanic trades) in government ITIs across the state, with seats also allotted in private ITIs through the same counselling. BCECEB, the Patna-based board that runs Bihar's combined entrance examinations, conducts the test and the entire counselling process. Admission is by merit rank in ITICAT, followed by choice filling and seat allotment — there is no separate application to individual ITIs.

How the 2026 cycle ran, round by round

Applications for ITICAT 2026 were invited online from 16 March 2026 to late April 2026, and the exam was held on 17 May 2026. Rank cards were published on 4 June 2026. Online counselling followed: the first seat allotment came out on 8 July 2026 and the second on 18 July 2026, each followed by document verification and admission at the allotted institute. Seats still vacant after the two online rounds were taken up in an offline mop-up round that began on 26 August 2026. The spot rounds of September — Spot Round-2 under Advertisement 13 being the latest — were the final mop-up stage: vacant seats filled face-to-face at the institutes themselves, because by this stage the academic session is already underway and there is no time left for another full online cycle.

Who was eligible overall

ITICAT is open to candidates who have passed, or are appearing in, the Class 10 (Matric) examination from a recognised board, with Mathematics and Science in their studies. The minimum age is 14 years — 17 years for the Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Mechanic Tractor trades. Your ITICAT 2026 application fee depended on category: ₹750 for General, BC and EBC candidates, ₹100 for SC and ST candidates and ₹430 for disabled (PwD) candidates. The exam itself is an offline OMR test of 150 multiple-choice questions — Mathematics, General Science and General Knowledge — for 300 marks in 2 hours 15 minutes, with no negative marking.

How a spot round actually works

A spot round is not a fresh entrance test and not an online process. You physically report to the ITI where seats are vacant, with your documents, and admission is granted on the spot in merit order against the seats actually available that day — trade by trade. That means three practical things. First, the trade you want may not be available at the institute you walk into; vacant seats in late rounds are usually the less-demanded trades or less-preferred locations. Second, everything is decided the same day: document verification, fee payment and admission happen in one visit. Third, if your name is called and your papers are incomplete, the seat moves to the next candidate — there is no "come back tomorrow" in a spot round.

Documents to carry for any ITI admission round

Based on BCECEB's verification checklist for ITICAT 2026, carry originals with photocopies of: your ITICAT 2026 admit card and rank card; Class 10 admit card, marksheet and passing certificate; Aadhaar card and one photo identity proof; Bihar residence (domicile) certificate; caste and income certificates if you are claiming a reserved category; character certificate from the last school attended; medical fitness certificate; and six passport-size photographs matching the one on your admit card. For allotment-based rounds you also need the printed allotment order; for spot rounds, your rank card is the key document.

If you missed Spot Round-2

Start with the BCECEB notice board — if seats remain vacant after this round, any further spot round will be announced there, at short notice, in the same Advertisement series. Do not rely on coaching-centre forwards or screenshots for dates or venues. If no further round comes, the realistic path is ITICAT 2027: on this year's pattern the form is expected around March 2027 with the exam in May, though BCECEB has not released the 2027 notice yet. Use the gap deliberately — Class 10 level Mathematics and Science are the whole syllabus — and keep your domicile, caste and income certificates current and in order, because certificate problems are the single most common reason Bihar candidates lose verified seats at the last step.
