The main schemes on the portal
Post-Matric Scholarship for SC, ST and OBC students is the workhorse. It supports study after Class 10 — Classes 11 and 12, ITI, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses — at recognised institutions. For SC students, the published ceiling is family income up to ₹2,50,000 a year for a full scholarship. ST students are covered on a slab basis up to ₹6,00,000, with the scholarship percentage reducing at higher incomes, and OBC students have their own lower ceiling (₹3,00,000 in recent state summaries). What you receive is a monthly maintenance allowance plus reimbursement of compulsory fees. The maintenance rates follow the standard course groups — for the Tribal Welfare department's schemes the published table is:
| Course group | Hosteller (per month) | Day scholar (per month) |
|---|---|---|
| Group I — engineering, medical, management, M.Phil/Ph.D, UG/PG professional | ₹1,500 | ₹550 |
| Group II — nursing, pharmacy, LLB and other UG/PG | ₹820 | ₹530 |
| Group III — general graduate courses (BA, B.Sc, B.Com etc.) | ₹570 | ₹300 |
| Group IV — Classes 11 and 12 | ₹380 | ₹230 |
SC and ST applications are processed through the departments' own systems — SC/ST students will also meet MPTAAS (tribal.mp.gov.in/MPTAAS), the Tribal Affairs automation system that handles their verification and payment.
Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana (MMVY) is the state's merit scheme, and it is generous: it reimburses the full course fee for undergraduate study. To qualify you need 70% or more in Class 12 from the MP Board, or 85% or more from CBSE/ICSE, family income up to ₹6,00,000, and admission to a recognised course — general graduation, or professional study through the national entrance routes (JEE Main for engineering, with a rank condition; NEET for medical; CLAT for law). MMVY has its own official portal at medhavikalyan.mp.gov.in, linked from the scholarship ecosystem, and it is fee reimbursement against actual admission, not a cash prize for marks alone.
Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan Yojana (MMJKY) covers children of workers registered with the MP Labour Department as unorganised workers, studying in degree, diploma, polytechnic or ITI courses, and reimburses the full tuition fee. Alongside these sit the girls' schemes most families ask about — Gaon ki Beti for girls from rural areas continuing after Class 12, and Pratibha Kiran for meritorious girls from urban poor families — plus schemes for students with disabilities and for minority students.
Dates for 2026-27
The portal opens applications scheme by scheme after admissions begin, and 2026-27 registrations were expected from around June 2026, with closing dates typically falling in September–October and then being extended in rounds. No single official notice fixing the 2026-27 closing date for every scheme could be confirmed when this guide was prepared — MP extends these deadlines routinely, sometimes district-wise. Treat the date shown against your scheme inside the portal as the only reliable one, and remember there are really two deadlines: yours, and your institute's verification deadline, which falls later but cannot rescue an application you never submitted.
How to apply
- Fix your Samagra first. Check your Samagra member ID at the Samagra portal or your local body, and correct any name or date-of-birth mismatch with Aadhaar before you touch the scholarship form.
- Register on scholarshipportal.mp.nic.in with your Samagra ID and complete the Aadhaar e-KYC. The portal pulls your family and category details from Samagra.
- Complete your profile — course, institute, bank account. The bank account must be in your name and Aadhaar-seeded so DBT can reach it.
- Open the scheme list, choose the scheme you qualify for, and fill the application: previous class marks, fee details and the category/income information exactly as your certificates state.
- Upload the documents (below), submit, and lock the application to your institute. An unlocked or merely saved application is not an application.
- Your institute verifies, the department sanctions, and payment moves by DBT. Track the application status on the portal rather than relying on SMS.
Documents needed
Samagra ID and Aadhaar card; caste certificate (digitally issued MP caste certificates are what the portal expects); income certificate issued in Madhya Pradesh — certificates from another state are a routine cause of rejection; MP domicile certificate; Class 10 and previous-class marksheets; admission proof and the institute's fee structure/receipt; bank passbook first page; and, for MMVY, your Class 12 marksheet and entrance-exam rank card where your course requires one. MMJKY applicants additionally need the parent's labour registration.
Renewal
Continuing students apply for renewal from the same profile each year rather than registering afresh. Renewal depends on promotion to the next class and on your institute confirming attendance and progression; a year lost to failure or a gap generally breaks the scholarship chain, and you should ask your institute's scholarship clerk before assuming a renewal will go through.
Where applications go wrong
The largest single cause is identity mismatch — Samagra, Aadhaar, marksheet and bank account disagreeing on a name, a spelling or a birth date. After that: income certificates that are expired, issued outside MP, or issued for the wrong financial year; selecting a scheme your income slab does not support, which wastes the season because the rejection arrives after other schemes have closed; forgetting the final lock/submission step after uploading documents; and a bank account that is dormant, a minor's account that was never converted, or not NPCI-mapped for DBT. If your application is returned with an objection, fix exactly what the objection says and resubmit within the correction window — departments do not chase students, and an unanswered objection is treated as a closed file.
Sources & verification
Checked against Government of Madhya Pradesh's official source on 6 September 2026. Closed, renewal-only, expected and open statuses are kept separate.
