NORCET-11 Stage-I result is out: what it says, and where the cycle now stands
AIIMS New Delhi published the Stage-I result of NORCET-11 — the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test — on 18 September 2026, six days after the Stage-I computer-based examination was held on 12 September 2026. NORCET is the single national eligibility test through which AIIMS New Delhi recruits Nursing Officers for the participating AIIMS institutions and allied institutes across the country. This cycle ran under Advertisement No. 103/2026 with 2,218 Nursing Officer vacancies on offer (UR 899, OBC 599, SC 323, ST 157, EWS 240).
The article's title says "Stage-I result," but a candidate reading this in October needs the whole picture: Stage I was the qualifier, Stage II (the mains) was held on 30 September 2026, and the Stage-II result followed on 10 October 2026. What remains in the cycle is institute allocation — candidates who qualified in the mains fill institute choices and are allotted seats strictly on NORCET merit rank and their preferences. If you are a Stage-I qualifier reading old news, you are already two steps behind; get to the live notices section on aiimsexams.ac.in.
What NORCET is, and who could apply for it
NORCET is a two-stage CBT. Neither stage is an interview-linked process; selection is by written merit, followed by document verification at the allotted institute.
The eligibility for NORCET-11, from the advertisement:
- Degree route: B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing, or Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council–recognised institute, with registration as a Nurse & Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council. No experience required on this route.
- Diploma route: GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) from a recognised institute, registered as Nurse & Midwife, plus at least 2 years' experience in a hospital of 50 beds or more after qualifying.
- Age: 18–30 years as on 13 August 2026 (the closing date), with the standard relaxations for reserved categories.
- Application fee: ₹3,000 for General/OBC, ₹2,400 for SC/ST/EWS, and nil for PwBD candidates.
- Applications ran 24 July to 13 August 2026 on aiimsexams.ac.in.
Appointed Nursing Officers join as Group-B staff at Pay Level-7 (basic pay ₹44,900, plus DA, HRA and transport allowance under central rules).
The Stage-I result in context: how the prelims worked
Stage I is a screening test, not the merit-decider. Its structure:
- 100 MCQs in 90 minutes: 80 questions from nursing subjects, 20 from general knowledge and aptitude.
- Negative marking: one-third of a mark deducted per wrong answer.
- Qualification is by percentile, with the standing minimums: 50th percentile for UR/EWS, 45th for OBC, 40th for SC/ST, with PwBD candidates receiving a 5-percentile relaxation within their category. Warning: those minimums are only the eligibility floor. The actual cut-off for being called to Stage II was far higher — see the table in the next section. A candidate at the 60th percentile "qualified" on paper and still had no mains seat.
The 18 September result, like every NORCET stage result, was published on aiimsexams.ac.in as a result notice with the roll numbers of shortlisted candidates, with individual scorecards accessible through the candidate login (candidate ID and password). If your roll number appeared in it, the next thing you needed was the Stage-II city intimation (issued 23 September) and the mains admit card (issued around 25–26 September) — both of those windows have closed.
The numbers behind the result: how many applied, qualified, and were actually called
The Stage-I result was issued as Result Notification No. 276/2026 (18 September 2026). The funnel matters more than the announcement:
| Stage-I funnel | Candidates |
|---|---|
| Applied | 1,22,099 |
| Appeared (12 September 2026) | 1,00,804 |
| Qualified as per the scheme (minimum percentiles) | 55,967 |
| Actually called for Stage II | 12,638 |
So roughly 1 in 8 of those who sat the prelims reached the mains, and about 4 in 5 "qualified" candidates were not called. Against 2,218 vacancies, the 12,638 mains candidates competed at roughly 5.7 candidates per seat before Stage II decided the merit.
The real Stage-I cut-offs — and how they moved from NORCET-10
These are the percentiles of the last candidate called for Stage II in each category, not the minimum qualifying percentiles:
| Category | NORCET-11 cut-off (2026) | NORCET-10 cut-off (2025) | PwBD cut-off, NORCET-11 |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR | 95.1589222 | 93.5887683 | 45.5200190 |
| EWS | 82.2407840 | 78.9831134 | 91.0291258 |
| OBC | 86.9062735 | 84.2077239 | 40.6352922 |
| SC | 84.1940796 | 81.9605328 | 35.6424348 |
| ST | 79.7051704 | 74.4746050 | 36.3279234 |
Every category's bar rose versus NORCET-10 — the ST bar by more than 5 percentile points. If you are planning for NORCET-12, last cycle's cut-off is a floor, not a target: prepare to the NORCET-11 line plus a margin. Note also that the Stage-I PDF lists roll number, category, PwBD status and percentile — it does not carry ranks. Your rank exists only after Stage II.
Stage II: the paper that decided the merit
- 160 MCQs in 180 minutes, again a CBT, focused on case-scenario and applied nursing questions, including image/video-based and priority-type items.
- Same marking: +1 per correct answer, −1/3 per wrong answer.
- Held 30 September 2026; result declared 10 October 2026.
With the mains result out, the remaining steps are the publication of the final seat matrix, online institute choice filling, allocation on merit-cum-preference, and document verification at the allotted institute. Provisional qualification is exactly that — provisional. The institute verifies your degree/diploma, registration, category certificate and (for GNM-route candidates) your experience certificate at the point of allocation; candidates who cannot paper over a claim made in the application lose the seat.
How to check your result now
- Go to aiimsexams.ac.in and open the Notices / Recruitments area for NORCET-11.
- Download the result notice PDF for the stage you need and search your roll number (Ctrl+F).
- For your individual scorecard and percentile, log in to the candidate portal with your Candidate ID / Registration Number and password.
- Save both the notice PDF and your scorecard — the allotted institute will ask for them at document verification.
Common mistakes NORCET candidates make at this stage
- Confusing Stage I qualification with selection. The prelims only bought you a mains seat. Your merit rank comes entirely from Stage II.
- Missing the choice-filling window. Allocation is not automatic; if you do not submit institute preferences in the window, you are out of that round regardless of rank. The exact dates must be read off the AIIMS notice (see the Flags — a secondary listing claims 30 October–6 November 2026, but AIIMS's own notice governs).
- Preference ordering by fame rather than reality. Allotments run by merit and preference order; an unrealistic list of top institutes only is how mid-rank candidates end up unallotted while seats go elsewhere.
- Expired or mismatched nursing registration. Registration must be valid and in the name/spelling used in the application; mismatches get caught at document verification, not before.
- Believing result-date rumours. AIIMS announces each stage on its own portal; the 2026 calendar (applications July, prelims 12 September, mains 30 September) was published in advance and followed — use the same official channel for whatever comes next (NORCET-12 will be advertised separately; nothing about this result auto-qualifies you for it).
How Stage-II merit and ties actually work
Final merit rests entirely on Stage-II marks. Where the mains runs in multiple shifts, AIIMS applies its published normalisation before ranking. If two candidates tie, the older candidate ranks higher; if still tied, the candidate with fewer wrong answers ranks higher. This is why two candidates with the same raw score can receive different ranks — and why guessing less in the mains is a ranking strategy, not just a marks strategy.
Document checklist for allocation and verification at the allotted institute
Provisional qualification survives only if your papers match your application. Keep originals plus copies of:
- NORCET-11 result notice and your individual scorecard (download via the candidate login / MyPage on aiimsexams.ac.in)
- B.Sc./Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree, or GNM diploma for the diploma route
- Nursing registration certificate (Nurse & Midwife, State/Indian Nursing Council) — valid and in the same name/spelling as the application
- Experience certificate of at least 2 years in a 50+ bed hospital (GNM-route candidates only)
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) if you claimed a reserved seat, and PwBD certificate if applicable
- Photo identity proof and the admit cards of both stages

Frequently asked questions
I crossed the 50th percentile. Why was I not called for Stage II?
Because 50 is only the minimum qualifying percentile for UR/EWS. Shortlisting stopped at 95.1589222 for UR — 55,967 candidates qualified under the scheme, but only 12,638 were called.
Does the Stage-I result show my rank?
No. The PDF shows roll number, category, PwBD status and percentile. Ranks are produced only from Stage-II merit.
How many candidates am I competing with for 2,218 seats?
12,638 candidates were called to Stage II — roughly 5.7 per seat before the mains merit list.
Where do I get my individual scorecard?
Through the candidate login (MyPage) on aiimsexams.ac.in with your Candidate ID and password — not from the public result PDF.
