The 2026 cycle in numbers

This was the largest AIAPGET cycle in recent years. 51,482 candidates registered, and 49,864 appeared — at, according to reports of the NTA data, 205 centres in 104 cities. Roughly 27,711 candidates qualified across the four streams. Ayurveda accounted for the largest share of candidates.

The examination itself was a two-hour computer-based test held on 22 August 2026: 120 multiple-choice questions, 480 marks, with +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. Candidates who followed the answer-key process will remember the sequence: a provisional answer key was published in early September with a short challenge window, and the key now on the portal is the final key — the one the scores were actually calculated from. If you are estimating your performance at home, estimate it against the final key, not the provisional one and not a coaching institute's version.

One group of candidates had a different calendar: a re-examination was held on 1 September 2026 for 49 candidates affected by a power failure at a Jaipur centre. Their scores were declared with the main result.

Who qualified

AIAPGET qualification is percentile-based, and the thresholds for 2026 were:

  • 50th percentile for General (UR) and EWS candidates
  • 45th percentile for UR/EWS candidates with benchmark disability (PwD)
  • 40th percentile for OBC, SC and ST candidates, including their PwD categories

Qualifying does not by itself get you a seat — it gets you into counselling. Because the percentile is calculated within each stream, the marks corresponding to it differ between Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha and Unani; use the percentile and rank printed on your own score card rather than any marks-versus-rank table circulating on social media.

How to download your score card

  • Go to the official AIAPGET portal on the NTA examinations website.
  • Open the AIAPGET 2026 Score Card link under candidate activity.
  • Log in with your application number and date of birth (and the security pin shown on screen).
  • Download the score card and check every field on it: name, category, stream, marks, percentile and All India Rank.
  • Save a copy offline and print at least one — counselling registration and document verification will both ask for it, and portals do not stay open forever.

If any printed detail is wrong, note it now. Counselling registration forms pull from your AIAPGET application data, and a mismatch discovered at document verification is much harder to fix than one flagged early.

What happens next: counselling

Admission splits into two channels, and mixing them up is the most expensive mistake a qualified candidate can make.

Central counselling (AACCC). The Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee conducts counselling for All India Quota seats in Government and Government-aided institutions, all seats of Deemed Universities, Central Universities and National Institutes, and the internal seats of Banaras Hindu University, for the 2026–27 session. AACCC's PG counselling page states plainly that eligible candidates who qualified in AIAPGET 2026 must register on aaccc.gov.in to participate, and that registration involves a non-refundable registration fee plus a refundable security deposit, with the amounts depending on your category and the type of counselling you select. The conditions under which the deposit is forfeited are set out in the AACCC-PG Information Bulletin 2026 — read them before you pay, particularly if you are considering holding a seat in one round while hoping for another.

State counselling. State-quota seats in state institutions are filled by the respective state/UT counselling authorities under their own schedules and domicile rules. A candidate can be eligible for both channels and may need to register separately, and pay separately, for each.

Documents to keep assembled before either registration opens: your AIAPGET score card and admit card; BAMS/BUMS/BSMS/BHMS mark sheets and degree certificate; internship completion certificate (the 2026 eligibility deadline for completing the compulsory internship was extended to 31 October 2026 — if you relied on that extension, carry the certificate that proves the date); permanent/provisional registration certificate; a valid photo ID; and category or PwD certificates if you claimed them.

A short word on expectations

Qualifying at the 50th or 40th percentile puts you in the counselling pool, not at a college gate. Government and national-institute seats close at far higher ranks than the qualifying line, and the honest way to judge your position is to compare your rank, stream and category against last year's round-wise closing ranks in the AACCC seat allotments — not against the qualifying marks. Fill choices in genuine order of preference, in every round you are eligible for, and treat the security-deposit forfeiture rules as real money, because they are.
