Where SRMJEEE 2027 actually stands
As of 20 October 2026, SRMIST has not announced the SRMJEEE 2027 schedule. There is no live 2027 application form, no phase calendar and no 2027 information brochure on srmist.edu.in; the institute's published admission material still covers the 2026 cycle. That is normal timing, not a delay. In the 2026 cycle the application window opened on 30 October 2025, so if SRM keeps to its usual rhythm, the 2027 form should appear around late October or November 2026. Until the notice is actually on the SRM website, treat every "SRMJEEE 2027 exam date" circulating on coaching pages and Telegram channels as an estimate dressed up as news.
One warning SRM itself repeats, and it is worth repeating here: srmist.edu.in is the only official website for SRM admissions, and the Directorate of Admissions is the only office that admits students. SRM publishes a standing list of fake admission websites with similar names. Nobody can sell you an SRM seat, and SRM does not take cash. If a site or agent asks for money outside the official portal, walk away.
How the exam ran in 2026 — the shape 2027 will almost certainly follow
SRMJEEE is held in three phases in a year, and you may attempt more than one phase; each phase needs its own application and fee. In 2026 the phases ran across April, June and July, with counselling following each phase, so an early-phase attempt gave you first pick of branches and campuses while seats were still open.
The paper itself was taken from home in Remote Proctored Online Mode (RPOM) — you sit it on your own computer, with a webcam, while a proctoring system watches. The 2026 paper had 130 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours 30 minutes: Physics 35, Chemistry 35, Mathematics (or Biology, for biotechnology-oriented programmes) 40, and a combined English and Aptitude section of 20. Every question carried one mark and there was no negative marking, which changes how you should attempt it: guessing costs nothing, so leaving a question blank is simply a wasted chance. The syllabus is the Class 11 and 12 NCERT curriculum, the same base as JEE Main, minus JEE's numerical-answer format.
Who could apply in 2026
The eligibility frame in the last cycle was straightforward, and it is the frame to measure yourself against while the 2027 brochure is awaited:
- You must have passed, or be appearing in, Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are compulsory. Candidates aiming at Biotechnology or Genetic Engineering could apply with Physics, Chemistry and Biology instead.
- The prospectus set the qualifying bar at a minimum aggregate in the PCM/PCB combination (see the note in the Flags section above about the per-campus figure — check the 2027 brochure when it appears rather than relying on any single number).
- For the 2026 cycle, the age rule required candidates to be born on or after 1 July 2004.
- Indian nationals, NRIs and PIO/OCI card holders could all apply; Class 12 students appearing in the admission year were eligible, with proof of passing produced at counselling.
Eligibility is checked again at counselling, so a good rank does not rescue a candidate who does not meet the qualifying-marks rule.
Fee and how applying works
The application fee in 2026 was ₹1,400 per phase, non-refundable, paid online. The process on the official portal runs like this:
- Register on the SRM admissions portal with a working email ID and mobile number — all communication, including slot and result notices, goes to these.
- Fill in personal and academic details and choose the programme and campus preferences the form offers.
- Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in the specified format.
- Pay the ₹1,400 fee by card, net banking or UPI (the 2027 fee will be confirmed in the new brochure).
- Submit, then download and keep the completed application — you will need the application number for slot booking, the admit card and counselling.
After applying you book your exam slot for your phase, take the test from home on the booked day, and check your rank when the phase result is declared. Counselling is online: you fill campus and branch choices in order of preference, and seats are allotted against your rank and those choices. Keep your Class 10 and 12 marksheets, photo ID and the application printout ready for the document stage.
What to do between now and the 2027 notification
Three things. First, prepare on the NCERT Class 11–12 syllabus — the same preparation covers JEE Main, so nothing is wasted whichever exam goes better. Second, keep your documents and a scanned photo and signature ready so you can apply in the first days of the window; SRM's phases reward early applicants with wider seat availability. Third, ignore date predictions. The only dates that matter are the ones SRMIST publishes on srmist.edu.in, and the moment the 2027 notice appears there, the registration window, phase calendar and brochure — with the confirmed fee, eligibility and marks rules for your cycle — will all be in one place.
