Status: applications closed, exam date still awaited
The Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation — BSFC — is the state corporation that moves Bihar's public-distribution grain: procurement support, storage and the supply chain that ends at the ration shop. It does not recruit often, which is why its 2026 drive drew the attention it did. Under advertisement BCECEB(BSFC)-2026/01, dated 24 August 2026, the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board conducted the recruitment for 259 regular posts in the corporation. If you are landing on this page hoping to apply, the first fact is the hard one: the application window has closed. Registration and application ran from 25 August to 24 September 2026, fee submission for registered candidates closed on 25 September, and the correction window ran from 26 to 28 September. BCECEB published no extension, and the process has moved to its next stage — the written examination, for which the date and admit card are still awaited.
The five cadres: posts, pay and qualifications
The 259 posts fall into five cadres, and they are not interchangeable: each has its own qualification, and applying to the wrong one was never curable in the edit window.
| Post | Vacancies | Pay level | Qualification the advertisement requires |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Manager | 81 | Level-7 (₹9,300–34,800 + grade pay ₹4,600) | MBA, PGDBM or PGDM from a UGC/AICTE-recognised institution |
| Assistant Accounts Officer | 6 | Level-7 | Chartered Accountancy with B.Com, or B.Com with five years' experience as an Assistant Accounts Officer or equivalent in the central or Bihar government or their undertakings |
| Accountant | 11 | Level-4 (grade pay ₹2,400) | B.Com with CA-Inter passed |
| Quality Controller | 38 | Level-4 | B.Sc. (Agriculture), or B.Tech/B.E. in Food Science, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Engineering or Biotechnology |
| Lower Division Clerk | 123 | Level-2 (grade pay ₹1,900, basic pay starting at ₹19,900) | Any graduate degree with proficiency in computer operation and typing |
Assistant Manager is the largest officer cadre, and the advertisement is unusually specific that a renamed-equivalent management diploma outside its stated terms will not be accepted. Quality Controller is the technical cadre that inspects grain quality in the corporation's godowns. Lower Division Clerk — called Lower Grade Clerk in the advertisement — is the single biggest cadre. Category-wise and horizontal reservation, including for Divyang candidates and dependants of freedom fighters, follows Bihar government rules as set out in the advertisement's vacancy table.
Age and fee
The age frame, reckoned as on 1 January 2026, was a minimum of 21 years for every post. The maximum was 37 years for general and EWS men, 40 years for general and EWS women and for BC and EBC candidates, and 42 years for SC and ST candidates, with a further 10 years' relaxation for PwD candidates and the other relaxations under Bihar rules. The application fee was ₹1,200 for General, EWS, BC and EBC candidates and ₹600 for SC, ST and disabled-quota candidates, payable online.
The CBT: pattern, sections and how merit is made
Selection runs through a Computer Based Test conducted by BCECEB, and the merit panel is prepared post-wise primarily on CBT marks. The prospectus pattern, as reproduced consistently by the sources above, is the same skeleton for every post — 100 objective questions, 100 marks (1 mark each), 2 hours 15 minutes, in Hindi and English — with the section mix changing by cadre:
| Post | Section A | Section B | Section C | Section D |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assistant Manager | General Studies & Mental Ability — 30 | Indian Language (Hindi & English) & Management — 40 | Indian Economy & Indian Agriculture — 30 | — |
| Assistant Accounts Officer | General Studies, Mental Ability & Indian Language — 30 | Accounting & Auditing — 30 | Indian Economy & Indian Agriculture — 20 | Taxation — 20 |
| Accountant | General Studies, Mental Ability & Indian Language — 30 | Accounting & Auditing — 40 | Indian Economy & Indian Agriculture — 30 | — |
| Quality Controller | General Studies & Mental Ability — 50 | Indian Language (Hindi & English) — 20 | Indian Agriculture — 30 | — |
| Lower Division Clerk | General Studies & Mental Ability — 50 | Indian Language (Hindi & English) — 20 | Computer Proficiency — 30 | — |
Read the table as a preparation plan. For Assistant Manager, 40 of 100 marks sit in the language-and-management section — the largest single block in any cadre — so management fundamentals outweigh general studies there. For Quality Controller and LDC, half the paper is General Studies & Mental Ability, which makes them, in effect, general-competition papers with a technical tail. Accounts candidates face the only four-section paper, and Taxation (20 marks) exists only for the Assistant Accounts Officer. Ties on total marks are broken first by the higher Section-A score, then Section-B, and then by seniority of age. LDC candidates should also prepare for the typing requirement attached to the post: reported speeds are Hindi 30 words per minute (300 words in 10 minutes) and English 35 wpm (350 words in 10 minutes), with a maximum permissible error of 1.5% — see the Flags on sourcing for this detail. After the CBT come counselling/document verification of originals and medical fitness before the final panel.
What applicants should do now
For candidates who did apply, what matters now is unglamorous but decisive. Keep the printed application form and the fee-payment receipt together — you will need the registration details exactly as submitted when the admit card is released, and the edit window that could have fixed a wrong mobile number or email closed on 28 September. Watch the BCECEB notice board, not aggregator sites, for two specific notices: the examination programme and the admit-card download notice, which in BCECEB recruitments typically arrive together or in quick succession. Carry the same photo identity proof you used in the application when you go to download and then to the examination hall; mismatched identity documents are the most avoidable reason candidates are turned back. The board's helpdesk number published with this recruitment is 0612-2220230.
Two cautions deserve plain statement. First, no fresh application, late fee or "spot registration" exists for this advertisement — anyone offering to get a late applicant into BSFC-2026 for a payment is offering something the board's own closed schedule makes impossible. Second, do not let preparation drift while the date is unannounced. BCECEB exam notices in comparable recruitments have given candidates a few weeks, not months, between the programme notice and the examination, and the section table above tells you exactly where your cadre's marks sit — Bihar's food and civil supplies system, procurement and storage practice for the technical and managerial cadres, accounts and taxation for the finance cadres, and computer and typing proficiency for clerks. Your application is in. The examination notice is the next event, and it will appear on bceceboard.bihar.gov.in before it appears anywhere trustworthy.
Category-wise vacancies: the LDC breakdown
The headline 259 hides how tight each category race is. For the largest cadre, Lower Division Clerk (123 posts, State/Block/District level), the advertisement's split as reproduced from the official vacancy table is:
| Category | Male / General | Female | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unreserved (UR) | 30 | 16 | 46 |
| Scheduled Caste (SC) | 13 | 6 | 19 |
| Scheduled Tribe (ST) | 2 | 0 | 2 |
| Extremely Backward Class (EBC) | 18 | 7 | 25 |
| Backward Class (BC) | 9 | 5 | 14 |
| Women of Backward Class (WBC) | — | 5 | 5 |
| Economically Weaker Section (EWS) | 8 | 4 | 12 |
| Total | 80 | 43 | 123 |
Read it honestly: an ST candidate is competing for 2 posts and a UR woman for 16 of the 46 UR seats. The other four cadres follow the same Bihar reservation structure in the advertisement's vacancy table — check your own cadre's row in the prospectus before you judge your chances from the 259 headline.
Document checklist for counselling and verification
After the CBT, shortlisted candidates face counselling/document verification of originals, then medical fitness. Keep these ready now, in original plus photocopies — a missing certificate at counselling is not curable afterwards:
- Printed application form and fee-payment/transaction receipt
- Recent passport-size photograph and scanned signature (as uploaded)
- Graduation/degree certificate and mark sheets
- Post-specific qualification proof (MBA/PGDBM/PGDM for Assistant Manager; CA/CA-Inter papers for the accounts cadres; B.Sc. Agriculture or relevant B.Tech/B.E. for Quality Controller)
- Experience certificate, where the post requires it (for example, the Assistant Accounts Officer experience route)
- Category/reservation certificate, if claimed (SC/ST/BC/EBC/EWS), and PwD certificate if applicable
- Valid photo identity proof — the same one used in the application
Sources & verification
Re-checked the official BCECEB notice board today: the BSFC-2026 application/edit windows (24 Sep and 26–28 Sep) have passed with no extension or corrigendum notices; no admit-card or exam-date notice has been published yet.
Frequently asked questions
When will the BSFC exam be held?
BCECEB has not announced the CBT date or the admit card as of the last check. Any specific date circulating on aggregator sites is unconfirmed — the board's notice board at bceceboard.bihar.gov.in is the only authoritative source.
Is there negative marking in the CBT?
The pattern sources reproduced from the prospectus specify 100 questions, 100 marks and 2 hours 15 minutes but do not state a negative-marking rule in the material checked for this article. Confirm the marking rule in the exam notice/prospectus before deciding your attempt strategy — do not assume there is none.
I applied for the wrong post. Can I change it now?
No. The correction window closed on 28 September 2026 and BCECEB published no extension. Post/qualification mismatches cannot be cured at verification.
Whom do I contact about an application problem?
The helpdesk number published with this recruitment is 0612-2220230.
